Re: Flaky IR

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the comments so far.

In response to you Jarrod, I have the latest GC100-6, but don't have
the GC IR learner, so this could be a contributing factor. I'll also
increase the delay between the macro commands; I'm used to the laggy
response of the Pronto, and have got to remind myself that the network
based control is a lot quicker.

Nahshon, I think you may have nailed it too - I left all the network
components on last night and the iPod's been bang on this morning. The
macros for watching TV worked instantly, and all IR commands I've used
have worked perfectly.

Your comment of me putting up a command that works and a command that
doesn't I don't think is going to prove anything at the moment, as
they are intermittent and I think I should invest in the GC IR learner
to really learn the codes in correctly.

Fiasco, I've got active/inactive states for the buttons but haven't
set any connection joins; didn't think it was worth it using IR, and
don't fully understand it!

Following on from that, the Freesat PVR I use is the Humax Foxsat, and
there was a thread on RemoteCentral ages ago as people were having
problems learning the menu direction keys. Somebody posted up codesets
that were really short in comparison to the learned codes, however GC-
CCF wouldn't recognise them as valid codes, so I had to learn the
codes again, and they do seem to be fine (apart from what we think may
be network issues!).

Going back to connectivity, I do have the iPod set to go to sleep
after 5 minutes, however always wait for the network indicator to
light up before unlocking it using the slider.

Will report back when I've got time to at least play with increasing
the delays.

Thanks

This will definitely be possible in a coming release.

For now you can just launch safari by setting the URL in button
properties.

Is the broadcast plugin you mentioned the same as the "network event

honestly, I wouldn't use the commandfusion plugin for eventghost. It
works but will stop working after a period of time requiring a restart
of eventghost.

I use the broadcaster plugin. Basically the commandfusion remote just
shouts commands on the universal address via UDP and any device on the
network can hear it.

You can do auto repeat buttons this way (like channel up or volume)

Yeah, I'm in the iPhone developer program, so I've been following the SDK versions.

Do you need to release a new version of the PC app for us to be able to prepare our interfaces, too ?

Hi, I have entered over 7 fill-ups but app still shows "No fill-up
data available." the car entered was "Other" with manually specified
mpg. Please advise. Thank you.

Re: Flaky IR

I have to say I restarting iViewer is a must after the screen locks
(power save), on resumption the screen becomes a fancy wallpaper until
you exit and restart the app.
I use another app "casatunes" and on resume it automatically starts
searching for a connection. (you can see a connection status wheel
revolving till you are again connected ).
It is a good idea to give the user some kind of status update as the
connection is being re established. (any thoughts on how to do this?)

Reading Jarod's reply (I am using 3 iphones + my ipod) One solution
might be to switch off constant connection (did not know this) and
compensate in the macro for the possible loss of some commands.

This is from my gui file:

<macro name="PowerSystemON">
<command delay="200">Proj_ON</command>
<command delay="200">hdmi-a-one</command>
<command delay="200">Proj_ON</command>
<command delay="200">hdmi-a-one</command>
<command delay="200">Denon_Power_ON</command>
<command delay="200">relay1-setstate</command>
<command delay="200">Denon_MainZone_On</command>
<command delay="2000">relay1-setstate</command>
<command delay="200">Denon_Power_ON</command>
<command delay="5000">relay1-setstate</command>
<command delay="200">Denon_MainZone_On</command>
<command delay="200">Denon_Select_DBS_SAT</command>
<command delay="200">Denon_Select_DBS_SAT</command>
<command delay="1500">relay1-setstate-off</command>
</macro>

Does anyone have a magic delay interval they would like to share? and
yes I know that this value can be unique to your current set up . . . .

Going mack to the intermittent IR, when it's not working from my
macros, I have checked the network activity light on the back of the
GC100-6, and it flashes in sequence with sending out RS232 commands,
but not the IR.

I would have thought that was the root of your problem; a network connectivity issue as opposed to an IR code error. (assuming your IR codes work when they do ;-)

Could you post a captured code that you know works and maybe one that does not work at all?

Re: Flaky IR

Hi Nick,

One thing I would not discount is the conversion from CCF to GC IR
format being a problem. Your CCF codes might be perfect, but the
conversion might not be. Are you able to learn the IR commands using
the GC learner to ensure this is not the problem?

Make sure you always set "maintain constant connection" on when using
a GC-100, unless you need multiple iPhones to be able to connect (the
GC-100 hardware only allows one connection at a time).
By not enabling a constant connection, macros may miss the first
couple of commands. This is due to having to connection before sending
the macro, which may not occur instantly every time. We recommend
upgrading to the newer GC units if you need multiple connections
rather than going with the connect-send-disconnect approach.

200ms delay is not very long. Especially for channel selection. Think
about how long you would take between button presses on a real remote.
Perhaps try increasing this delay.

Flaky IR

Hi All,

New to CF and have got my first GUI working pretty well, albeit with a
couple of niggles.

I have been using Pronto for years, and have pretty much emulated the
Pronto program I was using.

Using the GC-CCF converter tool I converted all the IR codes to GC
type (the system is using a GC100-6), and I'm pretty sure the codes
are clean (years of Pronto programming!).

I'm using a mix of IR and RS232 - IR for my TV, Freesat and Blu-ray &
RS232 for my amp.

My problem is connection when sending out commandsis sometimes
erratic; this can be either with IR or RS232.

Basically I have written macros that power up the system and do the
input switching from the home screen, so there are single buttons for
Watch TV, Watch movie, etc.

If I switch the system on using one of the macros first thing in the
morning it will generally send out the RS232 command and switch the
amp on, but not the IR - I generally exit CF on the iPod and start it
up and again and it usually works, but not always (we do switch all
the networking gear off at night, but I leave it ample time to boot up
before using it)

This can also happen whilst using the system; I have created macros
for favourite channels and they are flaky.

In my macros, I have allowed for a 200ms delay between sending each
command and would hope that this is enough time.

I have also noticed that the volume control on my amplifier jumps in
stages, so it can be ramping up normally at 0.5db stages and then
jumps by 3db - this happens all the time, and I have changed the
repeat volume command to 200ms. The amplifier is an Onkyo TX-SR876.

Going mack to the intermittent IR, when it's not working from my
macros, I have checked the network activity light on the back of the
GC100-6, and it flashes in sequence with sending out RS232 commands,
but not the IR.

Could the problem lie with maintaining a constant connection? I can
understand this for RS232, but not the importance for IR, althogh I do
have it selected.

Sorry for the long-winded explanation, but I want to get this working
solidly at home before offering it as a solution to our clients!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

Re: ipad

As soon as we are able to submit an app to the app store for the iPad,
we will be ready to do so.
We already have it running nicely in the iPad Simulator. So just
waiting for Apple to open the doors really.
They still haven't finalised the SDK for iPad yet (they are up to beta
3).

Re: Trouble Uploading GUI to iPod Touch

Thanks for making your excellent work available for others to use. I
may eventually try to learn Python and make EG plugins, but I am not a
programmer. I think it would take a lot of time.

I am now working on understanding the way feedback works in the CF/EG
system. This capability is one of the major things which attracted me
to CommandFusion rather than other control software for the iPhone/
iPod Touch.

Jarrod, when can we expect iViewer to be available on iPad ?

We have pre-ordered iPads for our showroom and want to put together a special event for our customers, with iPad/Crestron demos.

Oh, and make sure the Upload Service is active in guiDesigner when you
launch iViewer.
Otherwise turn off 'Reload GUI File' option on the iPod and it will
load from cache on next launch.

Re: Trouble Uploading GUI to iPod Touch

Hi Howard,

Your settings show that you are using the same IP and port for both
the upload service in guiDesigner and the EventGhost plugin.
These are two very different things and will cause conflicts if you
set the same port details.

Please change the EventGhost port to 8020 (I believe that is the
default number in our examples) and set the Project Properties to port
8020 also.
This is the connection for control and feedback, whilst the
guiDesigner Upload Service is just for uploading the GUI.

[appigo-todo] ToDo Lite issues

Trying out ToDo Lite and thinking of upgrading. I have a couple of
questions:

1. I don't use "Inbox" on my iCal. Since all my tasks are assigned, is
there a way to delete this box on either app?
2. When sync'ing between computers (laptop/desktop), MobileMe keeps
the To Do items sync'd. However when on the road and I add a new task
and want to sync (previous sync was with the desktop), it seems I have
to REPLACE all tasks or else ToDo duplicates them all. Is there a
better way to sync when alternating between a desktop/laptop?
3. The FAQs say "Once your data is synced, you then need to uninstall
Todo Lite. After uninstalling Todo Lite, install and connect Todo to
the sync service and download the tasks into Todo." In the Application
Support folder is the folder Appigo Todo. in there is the file
AppigoTodo_v3.sqlitedb. Is this the file to "download the tasks into
Todo" if upgrading to the full Todo? Or are you just relying on iCal
To Do's?

Thanks.

Trouble Uploading GUI to iPod Touch

I need some help with uploading the GUI to my iPod Touch.

My HTPC is connected via serial ports to a Denon 3805 AVR and a
Directv HR-21. I can control these devices using EventGhost.

I have added the CommandFusion plugin to EG and installed guiDesigner
on my HTPC and have uploaded the example.gui and the free.gui to my
iPod Touch. I successfully used the iPod Touch to generate events in
EG and connected these events to macros to successfully control the
Denon and the DTV.

I am now trying to get feedback from these devices to the iPod Touch,
but, I am now having difficulty uploading the GUI. I have obviously
changed something in the process of working on the feedback, but I can
not figure out what it is. It must be something simple which should be
obvious, but I have spent several hours with no success.

I am using the settings below. I get a message on the Touch "Can't
read GUI file at http//192.168.1.9:8019" and the EG log shows "
CommandFusion connection lost".

CF Plugin in EG
Port = 8019

Project Properties:
IP = 192.168.1.9:8019
Connection Join = 0
Enable Debug Mode = checked

Upload Service
Port 8019
Set GUI URL to: 192.168.1.9:8019

iPod
File URL: 192.168.1.9:8019
Reload GUI file - ON
Remember Last GUI = OFF
Preload Images = ON
