[appigo-todo] Re: Mac Client

This is totally true. And...If Appigo guys come up with OTA sync
between mobile and Mac versions of ToDo on debut, that would be
incredible! All I would ask for then was just some interface design
enhancements at all to bring the app closest to perfection.

Thanks for hearing us!

Sounds like you're rotating it after you login. Tap the keyboard icon

Thanks. For me this is critical. I sit at my desk most of the day, I'd
rather managing my project through that 27" iMac screen than my iPad.
I really can't use Todo full time until then. Toodledo is just to
messy of an interface, I find my self trying to figure out where
everything is most of the time.

Translucent keyboard? How?

I appologise if I have missed something, but I cannot seem to make my
keyboard go translucent on an iPad.

In the app store there are what appear to be screenshots of an SSH/
telnet session in landscape mode with a translucent keyboard suspended
over the top, however, no matter what transparency setting I apply to
the keyboard in iSSH settings, it only seems to affect the keyboard
during login.

Once logged in the keyboard returns to zero transparency, blocking out
a large portion of the screen. This in itself is not a show stopper,
but would certainly be very welcome to be able to see those extea
lines underneath. Ive "worked around it" by using the "resize" option
and this works relatively fine for what I want to do.

Is this a bug, have I missed a setting somewhere, or is this feature
perhaps no longer supported as of OS 3.2? I did read that it is only
possible on a technicality...

Thanks for your suggestions!

Re: Global Cache and Pioneer LX5090H - IR trouble

If I remember right, the IR receiver is on the opposite side from the power leds.

I would triple check that first. Use a flashlight and find the opening in the plastic, you should be able to see it.

That having been said, why not choose RS232 instead ? It would save the trouble of having an IR blaster glued to such a nice TV set...

Hello

I've sendt Global Cache a support request as well, but why not ask you
guys too...

Im trying to control a Pioneer KURO LX5090H TV, from a GC-100-18 using
the IR emitters that came with the controller. Its a fresh, reset`ed
controller. I've learned the IR, several times (with different
settings.), and I've tested different positions for the emitter, but
the TV doesn't obey at all.

All other IR to other components work fine. (and Ive also swapped
ports)

I think that its something to do with the learning that makes my IR
not perfect. The GC controller seems to process the IR correctly.

Anyone here that might have had the same trouble?

You can show/hide the iPhone status bar which shows the time (and
battery/wifi/etc): http://groups.google.com/group/commandfusion/msg/a1072bfedacc100c?hl=en

Otherwise you can grab the time data from a device if there is one on
the network that can send its system clock time.
Or you can parse any info from a webpage (including times from
anywhere in the world).

Hi Jarrod,

I thought it had something to do with iViewer.
Im not using Crestron. Im using Stardraw. So I assume there's no
problem if I increase the driver joins and just add more joins within
iViewer.

To be clear for anyone else reading this, the join limit is only on
the Crestron Module side (nothing to do with iViewer internally).

To increase the limit, simply edit the SIMPL+ module and adjust the
array sizes where applicable. It's open source and available here:

Expand Join Limit

Hi Jarrod,

I believe you told me that the limit number of joins is up to 1000
digital, 1000 serial and 1000 analog. You also told me that it could
be possible to expand that number.

The thing is that we are working on a big project and even though we
are almost done, we are getting close to 1000 digital joins. How could
we expand that 1000 join limit?

Thanks

I think it is easier this way you don't need to use the RegEx. I have
only used it with digital joins but should work with all types.

Re: Moxa NPort

You most likely want to use the TCP server option (and use TCP via
iViewer).

Make sure you have the baud rate and serial port settings correctly
set in the moxa for your device.

Otherwise, with the very little detail given, its best you contact
moxa for support.

[appigo-todo] Mac Client

I'm sure this has been requested before but how about a Mac client.
You can still leverage Toodledo syncing but I would rather not use
their web interface. If you could replicate the current iPad interface
on the Mac, I would be in heaven! I could have local performance, with
the Mac interface and still have access to a web client as a backup.

Here it is:

Power on of zone 1 ( speakercraft )
\x55\x04\xA1\x00\x06

Tried with \x0D also..

The box has several modes. For example a Real Com mode for Virtual PC
com ports or UDP / TCP server.
Tried them all, but they don't make any difference.

The documentation says nothing about how to send pakets. So I guess he
welcome's every IP packet and converts it to rs232?

Global Cache and Pioneer LX5090H - IR trouble

Regards

Even

Indeed, it isn't!

But it would be cheap! I have a project with 24 places. They all need
an iPod wich controls 3 contacts..
If you take E120,00 for a simple router you could save a lot!

Re: can no longer load iViewer on iPhone 3GS

OMG, how could I have forgotten that. Shows you how long it's been
since I have to load the gui.

As you suggested, after going into the iPhone settings app and
configuring the GUI file location, all is well.

Thanks for the quick response, and great support (as always).

You need to go into iViewer settings (its in the settings app) and set
the GUI File URL in there, and turn on 'reload GUI file' to cache the
GUI on your device (turn it off again once you no longer need to
reload from the version on your web server).

I can't get to the configuration setup to tell iViewer where to load
the file. I used to download it from an apache server running on
VMWare Fusion on my MacBook Pro. Used to work just fine. The server
is running just fine, and i can use Firefox to test that the gui file
is accessible.

When I start the iViewer on the iPhone, the blue Command Fusion icon
appears, then a full page of text stating:

"iViewer is a powerful home automation app, capable of
controlling ..........
................
.............. To use iViewer, you must first configure it to control
your system using our free guiDesigner software.
...........
...........

I'm stuck. I can't get past this screen of text in iViewer.

Can you do a quick writeup of the exact steps you are using to upload
your GUI file?
Make sure you are able to access the GUI file via safari on the iPhone
as well (it will just show the raw text format of the GUI file if
successful).

can no longer load iViewer on iPhone 3GS

I've been using iViewer and guidesigner with much success for the last
12 months, doing a lot of testing with a few globalcache products.

But, in the process of trying out a popular "jailbreaking" utility on
iOS 3.1.3, I can't get iViewer to load anymore. It just loads up with
the initial "banner" and never goes any farther.

I decided to upgrade the iPhone to the new iOS 4. Upgrading to the
new iOS was successful, but iViewer still will not load, and is stuck
on the initial banner. I went into iTunes to uninstall and reinstall
iViewer and I still can't get it to work.

Any suggestions on how to get this fixed?

Re: Start up time for code on iPad and iPhone

iOS4 won't make it irrelevant, but will certainly make it much faster
once we implement the fast switching code.
Release for iOS4 is another few weeks away. We are mid way through
implementing some other features which are quite involved.

We are also making minor speed improvements in the next release, but I
wouldn't expect much more in terms of speed.
The highly dynamic nature of our app does not play well with initial
startup times. But your project is quite large in terms of the .gui
file size, so to be expected.

My GUI is @ 85mb and doesn't take that long to load.

Try restarting your iPad.

Hi Jarrod

I'm reloading from cache. It's currently taking about 10 seconds with
the GUI file size at 750Mb.

I'm assuming that OS4i for the iPad will make this issue
irrelevant ...

Any idea on timescales for this and for you to feel comfortable with
your code supporting it?

I haven't tried it (not very useful anyway).

Hi Paul,

Firstly, are you loading from cache or reloading the GUI file each
time?

If loading from cache, the main influence on loading time is the size
of your project (number of pages, subpages, buttons, etc).
To speed up loading, reduce the number of page (use subpages where
same content always exists, eg. menus).
It should load up the average project in under 5 seconds.

Jarrod / other users,

Do you have any expierence with Ad-hoc connecting to the iTach?
Is it reable enough?
Can you create your own network or do you have to use a router?

Probarbly

- less connections with IP systems
- higher compressed images
( I use PNG for that, but photoshop has a tool for exporting in the
lowest format without loosing quality )

Please can you advise on how to minimize on the start up time when it
is selected as a preloaded app from the iPad or iPhone screen. Is it
purely the size of the .gui file and the time that it takes to load
into local memory?

Yes correct (although an ad-hoc connection might also be possible in
cases where all you want the iPad to connect to is the iTach unit).
You can also get wired ethernet versions of all the iTach units (with
POE).

GlobalCache iTach firmware update - multiple connections for serial ports

The latest iTach firmware (available from Global Cache website:
http://www.globalcache.com/support/itachfirmwareupdates/) introduces
the ability to have multiple connections to the RS232 serial ports.
This means you can now communicate with a serial device via multiple
iPod touches (iPads/iPhones) at once.
