error '∏5>»'

I seem to be getting a lot of connection errors of late on my local network w iSSH and it is not clear to me why. I do not have the same problem with other apps. The latest is a string of error '∏5>»' with VNC. (In case this gets mangled in the mail, capital pi five greater than double greater than), which is perhaps one of the more entertaining error messages I have seen over the years, but also rather uninformative. :-)

I get connection errors with VNC and with SSH.
