Re: Android future

Unfortunately the network connections our app requires are not
possible without flash (XMLSockets in flash).
To be honest, I'm not sure if flash can even handle the various
connections thats possible with iViewer (multiple TCP, UDP). Flash was
perfect for the single Control System we started out with, but now
with the 'System Manager' in guiDesigner there is much more to it than
that.

HTML5 has websockets, but they are again not powerful enough (and not
supported really in any browsers yet).

There are many web apps out there now replacing desktop apps (google
docs is a great example) but they dont require the advanced network
connections that we do in this field, so its not a fair comparison.

I'm eagerly watching the websockets features in HTML5, hoping they
will eventually do what we need.

The GUI file format is very open (check the GUI file in a text editor,
its just plain XML) so if anyone wants to have a crack at developing
something that uses it, you are more than welcome! Of course it would
have to be either open source, or eventually sold through
CommandFusion.
