If you want to use it to discover servers that you don't know about
yet, well, what we have today is not good for that.
But the iOS DNS stack knows about bonjour already. If you already
know the name of a machine you're potentially interested in, you can
construct a "local" DNS name for it and the OS will figure it out via
Bonjour, even if the numeric IP address keeps changing. So like, on
my home network, my base station hands out addresses dynamically. If
my laptop is named "Sam", then I can punch in a DNS name of
"Sam.local." as the hostname, and iSSH will figure out the correct IP
address even if it's different every time.
I use this method to connect to the mac on my living room TV set all
the time. To my surprise, I've ended up using iSSH on an iPad to
control it much more often than the wireless keyboard and mouse that
are attached to it. It works best if you give your machines simple
names with no spaces or punctuation in them.
