Connections will stay open in the background for 10 minutes and then

alive for a further 10 minutes.

(this is based on my usage of the ad-hoc build from Dean, but Apple seem
to have approved other apps using this background completion technique
to keep network sockets alive, so I'd assume they'll allow him to
publish this in the app store)
