Controlling Yamaha RX-V3900 (Noob question)

0 comments
Hi

I wanted to try and control a Yamaha RX-V3900. So I

- setup a new System
System Name = Yamaha
IP Address = 192.168.1.x
Port = 80
Port origin = 10208
TCP = selected
Maintain constant connection = selected
Heartbeat managed by system = not selected
Heartbeat Rx = blank
Heartbeat Tx = blank
EOM = blank
Connection join = 0
Startup Cmd = None

Now I assume that I need to Add Command.
Which I have tried to do however I need to supply a fairly long string
of XML (below) but I can't
POST /avctrl/ctrl.cgi HTTP/1.1
Content-Type: text/plain
Content-length: 114
HOST: 192.168.1.x
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<YAMAHA_AV cmd="PUT">
<System>
<Mem_Guard>Off</Mem_Guard>
</System>
</YAMAHA_AV>

Am I heading in the right direction and are there any detailed
instructions for setting up systems and commands as I have watched the
video online but it stops at creating the GUI?

Kind regards

Neil
