question, but here goes. My Macintosh logic board died yesterday, and
now I'm on my way to (Ruby on) Railsconf with only my iPad. I'd like
to continue developing my rails apps, and maybe even look cool doing
it with just an iPad.
I don't have a ton of server knowledge, and I'd rather not spend a lot
of money (like with a monthly hosted rails plan). The easiest plan
I've come up with so far is to use a fully-equipped Rails 3 image from
Bitnami. That's the only image I've been able to find. As far as I
can tell, it does not permit password login, only key-based ssh.

I know I have to get share a key somehow. 1) generate a key with iSSH
and copy it to the instance? I can't do that until the key is already
there. Circular. 2) copy the key the instance is already using into
iSSH? Sounds promising, but I don't know how to get the key out.
Amazon's AWS console doesn't work on mobile safari. I've been using
iAWSManager to control my instances. It has a key-pairs section, and
you can choose from any in that section to associate with a new
instance. But I can't figure out how to access/copy the whole key.
And something tells me it's not even the right key. How is instance
generation smart enough to take the key from iAWSmanager and get it
into the proper ssh key directory?
I can probably borrow a "full" computer from someone else at the
conference if needed, but I like the all-iPad challenge. And all the
stuff I'm learning trying. Thanks for any ideas you have.
p.s. I don't even care all that much about security (this week). I
just don't have time to learn rails server deployment this week.
