Wi-fi serial adapter & iSSH connection reset problem

I've got it working, however it appears that iSSH was the source of much of my trouble with it. I nearly always get a "connection reset by peer" when I try to connect to it. This never happens if I use my laptop or desktop to connect (both Mac OS, using the built-in telnet command line). Any ideas on how things to try?

As far as the serial adapter, this is the solution for the last thing that required my laptop. My iPad is now a full laptop replacement for me.
