With a slider for keyboard transparency, the keyboard will be made
transparent by default (it'll simply always honor that setting).
As for what's going on with portrait mode -- I found the rendering of
the custom fonts to be too slow. I'm forced to bundle and use
FreeType to do the rendering separately from what the iPhone uses to
render text. I have it from a good source that 3.2 supports packaging
custom fonts and use of the iPhone rendering path for custom fonts.
When an API becomes available that lets me do this, I can switch to
the much faster path.
Why font rendering has anything to do with a "full screen" portrait
mode is that in one mode, iSSH adjusts the number of rows/columns to
the visible area on the screen. This creates for a 53x48 screen,
which is far too many rows to render at a decent speed on the iPhone
3G. While the "fixed terminal" at 80x24 is acceptable at that speed,
I was wary about breaking from the consistency about how iSSH resizes
the terminal when rotated.
tl;dr The code is there for a portrait full screen view but I'm
waiting for the next iPhone OS version to turn it on.
As for the groupings, all pre-existing connections in the connection
organizer can be moved under a group, effectively adding them to that
group. As for now groups can only go one level deep as I had
anticipated people wanting to to group and organize the connections
they had before. Likewise, moving a group in the connection organizer
will add to it all the connections beneath it, up to the next
connection grouping.
More cool stuff to come and I really appreciate the feedback. It was
getting somewhat quiet in here and wasn't exactly sure how to proceed
or get some idea regarding interest in new features.
