Backspace is ^H doesn't work

Hello,

Am I the only one that cannot get backspace to be CTRL-H? My $TERM is
'xterm' (haven't changed it from default), using SSH for the
connection, just upgraded to iSSH 4.1.1 (no difference). Setting
"Backspace is ^H" to "ON" makes no difference. The "delete character
to the left" key (near 'M') generates a DELETE (^?).

If this setting works for anyone, please let me know.
