Stuck in analysis paralysis

I need everyone's help. It's been a long time (valid) criticism that
iSSH wastes otherwise good real estate on the iPhone. I've been knee
deep in code revising things and getting things ready for the iPad/
iPhone transition. I have a new Meta key widget for the Ctrl/Shift/
Tab/etc keys. This will be an iPhone specific thing as the iPad
should have plenty of real estate for a full, enhanced keyboard (and
other fancy details under NDA). Check out an example of the Meta key
widget here: http://www.zinger-soft.com/MetaKeyPie.png My goal here
is to move the Ctrl/Shift/Tab/etc buttons from a bar to the top to a
user triggerable component, much like the Key Pie Widget so as to
reclaim the space used by the top button bar.

So this meta key widget, in conjunction with the completely
configurable key pie widget, are all one should need to control a
terminal. But how to get to it? I've contemplated a two finger tap-
and-hold (just one more finger than the key pie), but that seems a
little too cryptic for simple keys like Ctrl/Alt. I've contemplated a
transparent button in the corner, very much like the keyboard/arrow
key triggers in the VNC and X Server window.

What does everyone think? What suggestions do you have for maximizing
flexibility and key access in iSSH.

This really is the only hold up for the latest version. I'm leaning
towards a transparent button in the corner to trigger this view (and
another one across from it to dismiss the current SSH session)
Thoughts? Ideas?
