Slow text entry

I just bought iSSH and I'm using it on an iTouch over wifi. I
currently own a T-Mobile G1 and my main app is connectbot (an ssh
client). I'm trying iSSH on my iTouch to see if it is good enough
that I could consider switching to an iPhone.

With that said, I got the interface looking reasonable to me and while
for some reason the fonts on iSSH are quite horrible compared to
connectbot, they are usable (I don't know why, but on iSSH, the font
size scroller does not seem to have any way to allow you to pick font
sizes that fill the entire horizontal screen like connectbot does).

My main issue though is that when I type in iSSH, it is unbelievably
slow. This is over wifi!

I have my g1 side by side with the iTouch and on the g1, I can enter
text as fast as I please on the hardware keyboard and I see the text
echoed back to me IMMEDIATELY in the ssh session.

On the iTouch with issh, it can't keep up with me at all. The sad
part is, I can't type even 1/4 as fast on the on screen keyboard as I
can on the g1 hardware keyboard, so it SHOULD be much much easier for
issh to keep up, yet it can't.

Is this a configuration issue?
