Yes, the server would be for Windows. I've used EventGhost before,
I'll explore this option. Is it able to query MCE, VLC or iTunes to
get
information? Also, how about the vmc controller?

The feedback I'm after are things like volume level, current song or
movie
playing, and album art. I wanted to be able to have a scrub bar.
Similar
to the nomos trailer video. I also want to view the music and DVD
library
from the iPhone itself.
