iSSH 4.0.9 with VPN

I just purchased iSSH 4.0.9 and I am attempting to connect to the
systems I support over the VPN that comes on the iPhone. I establish
the VPN connection ok but when I try to connect to a system using
telnet or ssh I receive the message Connection Failed Operation
timed out. It appears that the connections is not using the VPN
connection. Any suggestions?
