I understand re: long lists. What we have done in the past is limit
the list to the first 50 items or so, then still have the up down
buttons to fetch the next 50, and so on. Sort of a hybrid approach. It
allows for faster scrolling as you can fetch more at a time to get to
where you want in the list.

Another approach would be to use a scrolling list up to a certain
result size.

We will be adding a feature where a list reports its position
(something like l2:200:250 where 2 = list join, 200 = the position,
250 = the total items).
Would this allow you to add items as needed on the fly? You wouldn't
have to remove list items, just append them as needed. Then you can
scroll back up easily enough if needed.
